Operations Manager (Part-Time)

TechArts Empowerment Foundation – Los Angeles County, CA
$20/hour | 25 hours per month | Hybrid (remote + occasional site visits)

We’re looking for a detail-oriented, proactive Operations Manager to support the smooth running of our mobile STEM programs and our growing organization. This part-time role is ideal for someone who is highly organized, enjoys creating structure, and wants flexible hours while making a real impact.

The Operations Manager reports directly to the Executive Director and works ~25 hours per month, with most work performed remotely. Occasional in-person site visits (2x/month) are required to support workshops and logistics.

New Initiative: TechArts is moving into a new office. The Operations Manager will play a key role in helping set up the space and assist with defining and documenting business processes that will strengthen our foundation for growth.

Responsibilities

  • Workshop Logistics: Confirm student attendance, arrange lunches, print materials, distribute certificates, track evaluations, and occasionally provide on-site support.

  • Equipment & Inventory: Track needs and coordinate with the ED for purchasing/restocking.

  • Volunteer Coordination: Maintain rosters and schedules for workshops.

  • Administration & Office Setup:

    • Assist with setting up TechArts’ new office.

    • Help define, document, and improve business processes.

    • Maintain workshop and site visit records.

    • Track and submit event-related expenses.

Qualifications

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

  • Prior experience in operations, logistics, or nonprofit administration a plus.

  • Comfortable working independently and problem-solving.

  • Proficient in Google Workspace (Drive, Forms, Sheets, Docs).

  • Based in Los Angeles County with reliable transportation for occasional site visits.

  • Able to lift and move up to 20 lbs of equipment.

Stage Manager (Independent Contractor – Event-Based)

Flat daily/shift rate $120 per day | Event-based | On-site role

We’re seeking a reliable, energetic Stage Manager to coordinate logistics during TechArts workshops. This is a hands-on, on-site role focused on setup, teardown, and ensuring smooth event operations.

The Stage Manager works as an independent contractor and is scheduled for specific workshops and events. The role requires punctuality, attention to detail, and comfort with physical setup and coordination.

New Initiative: TechArts is moving into a new office. The Stage Manager will play a key role in helping set up the space.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the setup and teardown of TechArts’ mobile learning labs, including tents, equipment, and classroom spaces.

  • Coordinate and direct the stage crew or volunteers assisting with event operations.

  • Manage event-day logistics, ensuring schedules run on time and all assets are properly handled.

  • Drive and operate the TechArts U-Haul van for equipment transport.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for on-site operational needs during events.

Qualifications

  • Strong reliability and punctuality — must arrive on time and ready for each shift.

  • Experience in event setup/teardown, stage management, logistics, or similar roles preferred.

  • Comfortable lifting, moving, and setting up equipment (up to 40 lbs).

  • Ability to coordinate and direct a small crew.

  • Valid driver’s license required; experience with vans or light trucks preferred.

  • Based in Los Angeles County.

Contractor Benefits & Perks

As an independent contractor, the Stage Manager is not eligible for employee benefits but does receive:
