JR Coding Workshop – Scratch (Ages 9-13)
Workshop Description
CodeExplorers introduces youth to the fundamentals of computer science through fun, hands-on projects using Scratch. Students create animations, interactive stories, and simple games while strengthening creativity, logic, and confidence as young coders.
Objectives
Build foundational knowledge of coding and computational thinking
Encourage creativity and problem-solving through digital storytelling
Make early coding concepts approachable and engaging for beginners
Topics Covered
Sequences, loops, events, conditionals
Sprite design, animation, sound, and interactivity
Game mechanics: jumping, movement, collisions, scoring
Debugging, iteration, and peer feedback
